CARL's TAKE: <<<Two stars>>>

Summary - a popular ballet dancer is seemingly under attack, so Cityhunter takes up the case to protect her (and hopefully get laid). But it turns out she might not be the target, but Cityhunter himself. The culprit is her brother, a man calling himself the Professor and poised to unleash a terrorist attack that will erase Shinjuku, Tokyo, from the map. Of course, Cityhunter is the city's only hope.

Impression - had its moments, but nothing special.

Review - Cityhunter is a title obviously riding the wave of a popular manga. But you probably don't have to have read any of the manga to get a feel for this movie. Cityhunter is a man who's typically an expert at everything disguised as a perverted idiot who'll break the tension of the moment by running off in search of 'nookie'. The story is kinda okay, once it starts to get rolling with the terrorist attack. But, like many American action movies, this one never aspires to be anything more than a cheap action thriller.

VERDICT: not high on my list, but a fan of the manga would probably see it anyway.
