CARL's TAKE: <<<One and a half out of Four Stars>>>

Summary - the story follows Mima, the departing star of a hit pop trio, as she tries to break into acting. It's a risky move for her but she's confident she can handle it despite the protests of her agent. Until stuff starts getting crazy. People around her are getting killed as uncaring directors throw her into the role of a disturbed rape victim, all while a fake Mima parades around on the internet with her own site. As the line between reality and insanity blurs you have to wonder who's committing these crimes. Is Mima nuts?

Impression - Yeah, for a while there she is. And so was I for a while after seeing it.

Review - the selling point of this movie is that it's like a Hitchcock horror thriller. I don't know anything about Hitchcock, so maybe it is. But I really don't care for it. You get dragged down into the insanity so deeply you can't tell what's really happening and what's just thrown in there to confuse you. It makes sense afterward, but I was looking to be entertained DURING the movie.

VERDICT: this one is a pretty big name, but that's probably because it gives anime fans ammunition to say Anime is not Cartoons. I would only recommend it to a fan of horror movies.
